If there is such a thing as a "blockbuster" produce stand, Larry's Produce in Suisun Valley - now in its 28th year of operation - fits the bill. Owner Larry Balestra's goal is simply to "sell what people need, the basics."
Judging from what his customers have to say his approach fills the bill:
"I live in Tracy. While enjoying a get-away week in Napa, my husband and I took a ride across the 'mountain' and ended up somehow riding past this produce stand. We almost passed it and were so hungry we made a uturn and made a delightful discovery; we had stumbled upon the Garden of Eden! Wow...every kind of fruit and/or vegetable I could image! I found a flat, mini pumpkin looking peach. It was so sweet and juicy that no other peach this summer has compared" stated one satisfied customer.
Said another, "The best! You will find the best priced and best quality food in the Bay Area! If you live ANYwhere near Fairfield it is worth the drive! You must come early and be prepared to grab a bucket. I buy my family's produce here weekly and spend at the MOST $10!"
